2 CUSTOM SOFAS: UPHOLSTERY AND WOOD FRAME REDESIGN

The client approached us with 2 custom sofa frames that needed new upholstery. The client had collaborated with Avo to have hand-painted leather in a gold color juxtaposed with hair-on-hide. When the sofas arrived at the studio, we noticed the proportions were incorrect. The height of the seating was too high (dining chair height) and the seating was too deep. The client could not sit comfortably on the sofa as her feet could not touch the ground.

We suggested to bring the sofa heights down by shortening the legs. We reconfigured the backrest moving it forward and designing a larger bolster cushion to support the back if one were to sit back. We made the redesign and the cushions for two sofas….definitely unique!
